# How to Play Russian Roulette (2)

## We are going to tell you types of roulette bets explained

• ### Inside Bets

Looking closely at the layout of a roulette betting table, you’ll see most of the table features the number sequence 0 to 36. When players place bets on these numbers they are making what is known as an inside bet. There are seven kinds of inside bet:

• Straight up – This describes a bet placed on one number – your betting chip must be inside the square border.
• Split bet – This is a bet on two ‘next door’ numbers on the table – your betting chip must be placed on the shared border between them.
• Street bet – A ‘street’ is three consecutive numbers in the same row – your betting chip must be placed on the outer corner of that same row.
• Three numbers bet – A ‘trio’ bet including 0 (also 00 in American roulette) – so your betting chip must sit on the border shared by the zero and your two remaining numbers.
• Six line – A bet on two adjoining streets (3-number rows) – so place your betting chip where the shared outer border has a common corner. You’ll find betting on six numbers like this pays 5 to 1.
• Corner – This four-number bet is made by placing your betting chip on the corner shared by any four table numbers which form a square.
• Basket – A bet on four numbers: 0, 1, 2 and 3 – so your betting chip sits on the corner shared between the zero box and the first row. With an American roulette table, the extra double zero makes this a five number bet.

• ###### Outside Bets

Looking outside the number field, you’ll see the rest of the betting table layout allows you to bet on larger groups of numbers. This kind of bet is called an outside bet, and there are five types:

• Colour bet – Here, you place your chip inside the red or black box.
• Column bet – You bet on which column will contain the winning number and place your betting chip inside the box below that column.
• Odd or even bets – Predict whether an odd or even number will win, and place your betting chip in the ‘odd’ or ‘even’ box to confirm.
• The dozens bet – The dozens are labelled ‘1st 12’, ‘2nd 12’ and ‘3rd 12’, so choose one and place your betting chip in that box.
• High or low bet – Predict whether a high number (19 to 36) or a low number (1 to 18) will win, and place your betting chip accordingly.
• Announced bets
Announced bets are a group of special combinations developed in French roulette. They have French names too, but for now you only need to know how they work. There are three common announced bets:
• A trio covering – You can bet on the numbers 0, 2 and 3 by placing two chips on the common border point they share.
• Five split – With this bet, you cover the shared border between 4/7, 12/15, 18/21/ 19/22, 32/35 placing one chip on each combination.
• One corner – Here, you place two betting chips on the corner shared by the numbers 25/26/28/29.

## How to Choose Your Bet

As a betting novice, one commonly used roulette tip is to start off with outside bets* – for example, betting on red or black to win. You won’t make a fortune, but you’ll often win – and you won’t lose large amounts of cash. What you will also gain are confidence and experience, and that will kick start your development as a player.

*Please note that the minimum bets required may be greater on outside bets than straight bets.

## Start Playing Roulette: Online vs In Casino

Online and land-based casino roulette games provide players with a different experience. A live casino will normally offer one type of roulette with a live roulette dealer, often in a lavish, upmarket atmosphere.

If you want to play roulette in a live casino, take the following steps:

• Choose a table to play where the bet limits suit your budget.
• Spend a little time watching the game to get familiar with what happens.
• Give your betting chips to the dealer.
• Place your bets and enjoy the game.
